Blogger Biography:
Scott Sweeney, General: I am a 30 year resident of the Chicago area. I have played in local bands Saraphine and The Translation and enjoyed my time as an aspiring local musician. I still partake in the occasional acoustic show, and still can be seen out and about at my friends shows, namely Treaty of Paris and American Taxi. I started this website after reading other great blogs such as Chicagoist and decided I would like to be a part of a community like that. I have a love of writing, a love of music, and I enjoy blogging. I have three other blogs in addition to this one. In addition to general updates, I will be writing a bi-weekly column. Email me at ssweene1@gmail.com!
Sean Maloney, Restaurant and Food Critic: After much debate, Sean threw aside the construction business and went into his life long passion, cooking. Sean is currently a working Chef at a large downtown hotel restaurant that may or may not be owned by a certain funny hair, reality tv star billionaire. Sean was at the top of his class while earning a degree in Culinary Arts. In a previous lifetime (3 years ago) he obtained a degree in MIS. He will be contributing a weekly column, as well as cooking advice and recipes. Sean resides in the Avondale neighborhood.
Sonja Rae, General; Art and Culture: I am a 25 year old Logan Square resident who has lived in Chicago most of my life. I enjoy this city, but like many Chicagoans I think about moving to California every winter. I currently work at a well known dot com in the loop. I love music, singing, technology, sketch comedy, good vegetarian food, and I also molest every dog I meet. I’ve been studying web design for the past few years and have a dark past that includes local band websites such as Lucky Boys Confusion and Fifteen Minutes Late, among others. I am in the process of getting a new band going (I sing) and plan on rocking you until you tear your couch cushions out.
Shawn Kellner, Music and Culture: Shawn is a 24 year resident of the Chicago area. He has played in several local bands including Wasting the Dawn, As Autumn Fades and One Man Crowd. He has also worked with many local acts such as The Lifeline, Leftsetter, Liftpoint, Swizzle Tree, Saraphine, The Translation, Best Days Behind, The Dog and Everything, and Lucky Boys Confusion. Shawn’s primary focus is the Chicago music scene, and major Chicago entertainment events including Lollapalooza, Warped Tour, Bluesfest, and Jazzfest.
